"Atlantis" by Gloria Fenaroli

Enigmatic, innocent glances, mysterious fragments of a far off world, white vortexes are revealed as young nymphs – or water lilies…
The images show a path of discovery into the submerged world: another place, different from our everyday life. A place in which points of usual reference disappear, in which normal causal ties among things are suspended, in which forces – starting with gravity – act differently. And so the human being is transformed into an extraordinary creature, no longer a guest of a foreign world, but master of a parallel universe, from where – separated from us by the surface of the image, near and far – he turns towards us with a curious glance.

The human form is shown bit by bit, now hidden, now confused, now transforming into something new; through the presence – transparent but palpable – of the water, forming unexpected and distant architectural elements. The game of reflections, light and animated drapes from the water gives life to a dual dimension, of both veiling and unveiling. The shapes and the work on the images draw a map of a world at the same time known and foreign, sinking its symbolic, unconscious roots in the mythological image that innervates the history of the Mediterranean world.
